Bengalis are born foodies and for obvious reasons, they experiment a lot with food. As a result of which Bengalis have a lot of unique and also weird food combinations. Among those one such combination is having egg and eggplant together. For their never-ending love of non-vegetarian dishes, they have incorporated egg in several of their recipes where the primary hero is eggplant/brinjal. But this combination has proven to be deadly for Bengalis. Most of them not only suffer from acute allergies due to the food combination but many are even advised by doctors not to eat the two items together.
Do you know why? Most food allergies develop when you are a child. Brinjals or eggplants can cause itchy tongue and can also be the reason for swelled lips. When a person who is allergic to eggplant consumes it with egg, the consequences can be severe like feeling uneasy, feeling waves of nausea, vomiting, difficulty in breathing etc. Quite a large population of the Bengali community suffers from this allergy. Primarily, eggplants being the member of the nightshade family of plants contain alkaloids and this is the main reason for allergy of most people.
