Baijayant Panda Launches His New Political Creation
On 10th January 2019, Baijayant 'Jay' Panda launched his latest creation 'Lutyen's Maverick', Ground Realities, Hard Choices and Tomorrow's India along with Mr. Rudra Chatterjee, President, ICC, and Managing Director, Luxmi Tea Company Pvt. Ltd in association with Rupa Publications.
Mr. Rudra Chatterjee who was in close association with Baijayant Panda talked about the political facts of today and was straight forward enough while dealing with the sensitive socio-political concepts. Baijayant Panda talked about the benefits of demonetization and how it was accepted by the mass. Apparently, the dissatisfaction of the people in India was regularly advertised but according to him, there are people in larger number who still appreciates the move.
Talking about GST, Baijayant Panda mentioned that this is the decision that was necessary years back but somehow India failed to make it happen. The results of GST will be seen in the next few years. As Panda travelled various parts of the world, he clearly stated that India has possibilities to compete the developed countries but something is there that is dragging it behind. Mr. Rudra Chatterjee talked about the young generation joining politics where Baijayant Panda clearly cited that had there been ethics, a number of young people would have loved to join politics in the present scenario.
Baijayant Panda was a former member of Lok Sabha from Kendrapara constituency. He was elected from the Kendrapara constituency with a BJD ticket. However, Panda was suspended from the Biju Janata Dal party for alleged anti-party activities on 24 January 2018 and resigned from BJD on 28 May 2018. According to him, he was 'shocked' and completely denied the charges filed against him as 'false and baseless.' He also suspected that there was an unproven conspiracy against him.
Being an active political personality, Baijayant Panda introduced a good number of private Member's Bills in Parliament that talked about a number of significant issues prevailing even today.
