Barun Chanda, the prominent actor in the Film
industry had already engaged himself in the intellectual genre for long. With
time, his creations have just gained a bit more prominence. One such example is
his newly released book 'Murder in the Monastery'.
On 8th May 2019, the book launch event
engaged the time of few book lovers and media personalities at Starmark, South
City. The event was beautifully graced by the valuable presence of Barun
Chanda, Mir Afsar Ali, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee, Aparna Sen, Kalyan Ray, Kunal
Basu, Subhojit Mitra, Avik Chanda, Chinmay Guha, and many much-admired luminaries.
As it happens with most of the creative personality,
Barun Chanda was also not an exception. Ideas rolled in his mind and he tried
to pour it all to his writer friend Kunal Basu. "When he was telling me about
it initially I thought he is deep drunk, so I just told him what Saurav Ganguly
told Rishav Pant from Dugout. Go ahead and do it." However, Mr. Chanda actually
worked on it and the final output was somewhat quite engaging for bookworms. The mystery unfolds as the story goes on. Love, relationships, sex, death are all
that constitutes 'Murder in the Monastery'.
Mir Afsar Ali and Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee conducted the
show along with the interactive session from the audience too. Barun Chanda
thanked the audience and his media friends for their presence and specially thanked
his better half for being the best critic.
Subhojit Mitra, Filmmaker shared his stories
regarding working on the movies that are based on social stigma.
Unfortunately one of his own creation remained unreleased because of the fear
of social turmoil. 'Murder in the Monastery' can also be turned into a movie
but this will take time and proper casting.
Various tourist places of West Bengal and outside is
beautifully portrayed by Chanda in this book which will offer added flavours to
the holidaymakers. Barun Chanda was pretty excited to state that he personally
visited these places so that he can come up with the best possible picture for
his readers. He personally believes that reading is a good habit till date and kids
today are more digitalized than before. It will be good if the parent encourage
the reading habits among the kids.
