Students Express Thoughts on Vigyan Samagam Through Blog Writing Competition
Science has inevitably become an integral part of our lives. ‘Vigyan Samagam’ a one of its kind, mega science exhibition was curated with an objective to promote science. Taking a step further towards inculcating scientific temperament in the minds of young children, the team of Vigyan Samagam organised a blog writing competition at Maria Memorial High School, Kolkata.
The competition was conducted on 24th December 2019 for students from 7th to 10th standard, who expressed their views on the objective of VigyanSamagam. Close to 300 students participated in this competition.
To familiarize the participating students about Vigyan Samagam, each and every participant were given information about its theme and objectivethrough various sources like its website and Social Media handles.
All the students displayed their opinions beautifully through their writing, hence, impressing the judges with their talent. After accessing all the blogs, the judges announced Rirtobi Ghosh of 10th standard as the winner. Nikita Nayakfrom 9th standard and Zia Roy from 7th standard were also awarded as first and second runner-up for their brilliant writing.
On the occasion, Mr SamratJyoti Ghosh, Principal, Maria Memorial High Schoolsaid that such educational activities help in broadening the thought process of children at the right age and should be organised more frequently.
Vigyan Samagam is jointly promoted by Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Mumbai, Department of Science & Technology (DST), New Delhi along with National Council of Science Museums, Kolkata and has been organizing various events at different schools across Kolkata to promote science among the scientists of tomorrow.
The key motive of arranging this mega science exhibition is to demonstrate the technical ability and scientific acumen of Indian Scientists in global mega science projects like CERN, FAIR, INO, ITER, LIGO, MACE, SKA and TMT.
At the conclusion of the event, the organizers distributed some informative material to both the students and the teachers about Vigyan Samagam and urged them to visit the exhibition at Science City to get firsthand experience and to interact with scientists also.
